My Favorite Gift

I got a new camera as a surprise Christmas/Anniversary gift from Kevin. Here are some pictures I took today of Caroline having fun in her swing.

Here are some pictures I took of Mack, Jack, and Caroline playing in her new playhouse from grandpa.

A Few Christmas Photos

Christmas was so great this year. Despite us keeping Caroline awake until all hours and virtually cutting out her naps, she was a real good sport and managed to get into the spirit! We couldn't have asked for it to go any better. Here are a few photos.

Girls need boy toys, too! Here she is playing with a tool set from Honey

Sharing Christmas night snacks with Jack.

Playing with some of her gifts from Santa on Christmas morning.

Thanks for the slide, Santa!

This is actually NOT a flask. It's a pair of binoculars, but she obviously did see a few people hitting the bottle during the celebrations.

This was probably an attempt to find peace and quiet - but she didn't quite fit through the doggy door.

Happy Anniversary!

Where were you seven years ago tonight? Maybe you were here...
Seven years, six jobs, three states, four homes, three pets and one beautiful little girl later...Here we are. Happy Anniversary to us!

Christmas Closing In and General Disorganization Reigns

Christmas time is coming at such a fast pace. This is both wonderful and stressful in the Wright household. If possible, I believe I have become slightly more dingy / forgetful / blonde in the past week. Hard to believe, I know. In the insanity, I just mailed our Christmas cards out today. In the spirit of Christmas, here are some more photos of princess Caroline.

And here is a set of photos that really describe her struggle with independence (and by independence, I mean authority) lately.

First, she sees that my keys are unguarded.

Here she's running from me with the keys.

This is after I take the keys away so they won't be in every single photo...and I try to make her listen to help convince the nice photographer lady what a great mom I am because I have just told her our precious adoption story and she's all goosebumpy at how happy we must be to finally be parents...

Still not over the loss of the keys...and I'm looking like a less and less competent adoption mommy every second.

Victory.
It really is all very simple in the mind of a 15 month old, you know.

Cajun Blizzard of 08

Okay, so it wasn't a blizzard - but it's probably the closest thing we'll ever get to one in Louisiana. It might not look like much to some, but it sure was impressive to me! I took a few shots of the backyard to show Caroline when she gets bigger. I wish I could post a few pictures of us building a cute little snowman, but unfortunately Caroline was throwing up most of the night before so she couldn't enjoy the white stuff.

A Tree Is Nice

We headed out with Nick and the kids last weekend to Vincent's Christmas Tree Farm in Kaplan to cut down our own tree. We spent a lot of time looking for the "perfect" tree for the Wrights and another for the Wolfes, and let me tell you, that is not a small farm. And there was mud. And mosquitos, lots of mosquitos.
It took Mack and Jack a little longer to settle on a tree than it did us, but Caroline was happily stomping around in the mud, stumbling, occasionally trying to lick mud off of her fingers like it was chocolate icing, and picking up small sticks to wave in the air at anyone who came near.
Kevin was ready with boots, gloves, and a freshly oiled chain saw. Unfortunately, when we got there we were told that there were no chainsaws allowed. (We later noticed the older man who owned the farm travelled on an ATV with a chainsaw, but we tried to keep that fact from Kevin!). Instead, they gave us a small handsaw and a wagon. It took quite a while, a lot of sawing, and a little shaking the tree back and forth to coax it out of the ground, but one and a half hours after we got there, we drove away with two beautiful trees. And a couple of funny memories. And a few photos.

They really loved the tree they chose!

Notice the girls are just standing back and watching the work...

I only wish this was a closer-up close-up because you'd be able to see the mud on her face!

Starting Young

Finally, I get some help with the house cleaning!

And she doesn't even mind when the machines break down.

Could This Catch On?

You know, this really isn't a bad idea...It certainly would make shopping less tiring. Of course, it doesn't leave much room in the basket for food.

The Force Is With Her

Anyone who knows her Daddy will know how happy this made him. Too bad there wasn't a hairbrush handy before the mission.

Jackson's life has really changed this past year. Poor guy just runs for cover now. But sometimes, Caroline shows him some love.

The Second Halloween!

Caroline wasn't loving her second Halloween. For one thing, she usually goes to bed at 7:00 so trick or treating was right around the "danger zone" in time. What she really wanted to do was sit on Honey and play in the candy bowl. What she didn't want to do was be pushed around the neighborhood like a busy little bee in her stroller being admired by all. We struck a compromise for part of the night. Notice the photo of her clutching several suckers.

Here is what Caroline's daddy did for Halloween. Can you tell which one he is??

Pumpkin Patch Play Day

We went to the pumpkin patch with some of the teachers from my school and their kids. Caroline had missed her nap so was much more serious than we're used to, but I think she had fun.

Here is a picture of her with her two friends, Evan and Sean.
There was a fun jump there. It was the first time Caroline had been in one and with the help Mack and Jack and their careful bouncing, she had a blast!

Her First Car

Thanks to her Nanny, Caroline got her first car this birthday. It's a pink and blue coupe, and she loves driving it!

First Birthday - The Remix

Since "Honey" missed Caroline's first birthday party, we had a little party just for the two of them a few weekends ago. Caroline got much more into her cupcake than she had a chance to at the first party.
